Well, here in Chicagoland the chill has hit the air and the stores are showcasing Christmas trees, twinkling lights, and pictures of Santa. That can only mean one thing: the holiday season has begun! November gives us a time to stop, remember, and be thankful for all we have. In that spirit, all of us here at Medallion would like to take a moment to express our gratitude to the readers, listeners, viewers, authors, musicians, filmmakers, and everyone working behind the scenes to make what we do possible. Thank you!
This month we bring you two great new releases.
Aaron “Woodshed” Wallace has fought his entire life to survive. He thinks the big break from MMA promotion Warrior Inc. will change all that, and he’s right. But first he has to make sure Warrior’s president, Banzai Eddie Takanori, doesn’t get snuffed out by the Yakuza.
If the Japanese mobsters can’t collect on the debt Eddie owes, they’ll take payment in blood—no matter whose. Woody has no choice but to use his mixed martial arts skills in and out of the cage to help Eddie and his ex-SAS bodyguard stay alive and to keep Warrior intact.
Serves Woody right for trusting Eddie and thinking he was off the hook for his past. He should know by now what happens with hooks: when you drop back onto them, they go twice as deep.
Reviewers love the sequel as much as they did the first installment. Take a look:
“Hook and Shoot takes all the good things from Suckerpunch and expands on them. Woodshed Wallace may not be your everyday hero, but he gets the job done. Wallace is now an established character, and the stories to follow are likely to be as thrilling as this one.” ~ Brent Todd, MMArecap
“Brown offers some terrific fight scenes, notably the climactic showdown on the mat with Zombi.” ~Publishers Weekly
Author and poet Helen A Rosburg brings her fantasy verse to e-book. Featuring such tales as the vampire romantic tragedy “Angelique” and the western ghost story “Jimmy Flynn,” this collection will pull you into a new world with every turn of the page. With fanciful figures and wondrous creatures depicted in picture and poetry, Arabesque will capture you in its spell.
Helen, who works with youth through the nonprofit organization Triple Threat Mentoring, recently gave East Aurora High School students a glimpse into her poetry collection, Arabesque, and encouraged them to use the power of their own words as well. Chicago’s Daily Herald covered the event.
As we head into the holiday season, remember that Medallion books make great gifts! We have something for everyone.
