The
Birth of Medallion Press
Like many of you who are
published authors, one of the happiest days of my life was the day
I sold my first book. The elation lasted a long time. Then reality
set in. Unlike the commercial for a certain drugstore chain, life
is simply not perfect. Being a published author is not all it’s
cracked up to be either. After my second book I found myself commiserating
with fellow authors about the ups and downs of the publishing world.
As a reader I had complaints
as well. Why, for instance, couldn’t a great story have a
great cover? Why did that beautiful book I bought, with the exciting
back blurb, turn out to be such a stinker?
A book, to me, is a treasure.
Each one I buy should be a separate gem, something to read, reread,
and keep on my shelf forever. In the real world, of course, this
simply isn’t possible, but it didn’t stop my complaints.
After listening to myself
whine and moan for a time, I decided to put my money where my mouth
is. And, in June of 2003 Medallion Press, Inc. was born.
I love books. I looooooove
them. I love not only to read them, but gaze at them, touch them,
smell them. Books contain magic. They transport. They are light,
easy to carry, generally inexpensive; in short, simply the greatest
form of entertainment. My love of books is at the very heart of
Medallion.
Every book Medallion produces
is considered as a mini work of art. From concept to cover, it is
nurtured each step of the way. Authors myself included, tend to
think of their books as children. Medallion has many “children." Our
goal is to have you, the reader, find the treasure you expect in
every one of our books. Our mission is to have every title you buy
end up on your "keeper” shelf. Our greatest joy, and
ultimate expectation, is not to have readers say "When is the
next so-and-so author coming out?" But "When is the next
Medallion book going to be on the shelves?"
This dedication to quality
is what drives Medallion Press. It is what drives its dedicated
and talented staff. And it is, I hope, what will keep you all coming
back for more.

.................................................................................................................................................
OUR MISSION:
To publish well-written,
visually appealing products based upon quality editing, excellent
cover art, and an aggressive marketing campaign. We seek to publish
mainstream adult fiction and nonfiction in a variety of genres and
will do so in such a way as to raise the level of expectations of
the book buying public so that they look to Medallion Press Inc.
as a leader in the publishing industry.

Helen A Rosburg,
aka Helen the Helpful Hooker, here. I just learned all the
hand signals to guide my husband while he's backing up the
pickup to hook it to our cargo trailer. Truck and trailer
go to horse and dog shows with Helpful Hooker and hubby.
That's what I do when not acting as CEO, president, and
executive editor of Medallion Press and CEO of Medallion
Media. I am NOT known as the Helpful Hooker in the office.
When not helpfully
hooking, showing dogs and/or horses, or being presidential/CEOish,
I love rescuing animals of all kinds, dressing to impress
and then revealing my awesome three-quarter tattoo sleeve,
and watching reality TV. Apologies to my friend Billy Baldwin,
who said it was people like me who killed his career.

My name should
be spelled with two Ds, thus making it ADDam Mock.
Why? Because I’m chemically imbalanced and have joyously
been diagnosed with attention deficit disorder. Let the
good times roll. Being the prez of Medallion Media gives
me a huge outlet for my mind forever voyaging, and for that
I’m grateful.
Feel free to request
my friendship on Facebook by looking up ADDam.mock, or follow
all the craziness on Twitter. Your life will be richer for
it.

I believe that
my interpretive dance at the local grocery store improves
the lives of the strangers there. I also believe that Michael
Myers and Dr. Loomis have never died, and will never die.
When people question my irrational behavior, they are satisfied
with the explanation, "Oh, I'm an art major." Being
vice president of Medallion Media has allowed me an avenue
to boost other people’s goals while remaining unashamed
of how weird I really am.

“All you
need is faith and trust . . . and a little pixie dust!”
To say that I
am a Disney nut is an understatement! As a child I was brought
up on the idea that any dream, any wish can come true if
only you believe, and I still believe that into my adulthood!
Most of my spare time is devoted to my four-legged fur ball,
a Pomeranian rat terrier, named Disney, of course!

I’m an art
and production director, illustrator, husband, father, and
Darth Vader. Yeah, no really. I have a professional costume
of the Dark Lord of the Sith and wear it at charity and
fundraising events. Is it hot to wear? Oh, brother, is it
ever!
I was also in the
advertising business for ten years, and I colored comic
books for a brief period. Say, you know who Groucho Marx
is? Well, here’s one of my favorite quotes of his: “I
find television very educating. Every time somebody turns
on the set, I go into the other room and read a book.” One
of my personal favorites to read is Shinigami by
Django Wexler. I could so totally see this as a film trilogy.
Man, it’s that good!

Many people say
I’m an elusive wise guy, a harlequin who likes to
dress up in costumes all year round. They also say my greatest
asset is my body. No argument there. I mainly enjoy looking
up to people.

Hi. I’m Michal.
(That’s ME-how if you can pronounce it, or
just plain Michael if you can’t.)
Here is a list
of my top five favorite things. First is a tie between my
dogs, Olive and Coco. Second is Lost. (Faraday
and Desmond are the best.) Third are eight-hour naps followed
by watching Sin City or Planet Terror just
because I have nothing else to do. Fourth consists of anything
that relates to The Joker. And finally, fifth is supreme
deep-dish pizza (which I could eat for breakfast, brunch,
lunch, afternoon snack time, and dinner).

Having the quietest
speaking voice known to man (and woman), I am thankful to
do most of my work behind a keyboard. I spend my free time
with my family and friends, exploring the city, hitting
the beach, or camping in the mountains.
My favorite silly
quote, which makes sense only in print, is
Let’s eat
Grandpa!
Let’s eat, Grandpa!
Punctuation saves
lives.

I’m a hugger;

I’m a 6’5” specimen

my own goals and the goals of others. I’m a lifelong
Bears fan. Hey, it’s better than being a lifelong
Cubs fan. At least the Bears won the Super Bowl. My wife
just got angry with me when I read that line to her because
she’s a lifelong Cubs fan. Feel free to friend me

I’m a super
sassafras and full of energy—but due to my astrological "crab" makeup
I also like the inner confines of my shell. Afraid of crying,
or anything related to crying, I tend to avoid cartoon films
with small animals. My “bubby” dog Bubba Smith
is my best nonhuman companion, and when I am not behind the
computer I am outside hiking, camping, climbing trees, or
playing in the dirt. I live with my equal opposite and will
become a united entity in one short month. Oh! And I’m
also a lil OCD. “SHHHH!” Don’t tell anyone!

I’m a drummer
at heart! In one way or another I’ve always been interested
in the creative arts, expressing myself through many outlets.
But drums have always been my passion and where I express
myself best. While serving eight years in the Air Force,
I learned I have a technical side. There’s a sense
of satisfaction in troubleshooting and fixing a problem.
That’s the cool thing about being a Web designer:
It caters to both the creative and the technical side. Now
. . . if I can just talk the boss into letting me set up
my drums in the office . . .
My favorite quote
is from the song “Colorful” by The Verve Pipe: “I
know I can be colorful. I know I can be gray. But I know
this loser is living fortunate. ’Cause I know [Y]ou
will love me either way.”

In me free time during the summer, I enjoy attending cruise nights and
carriage shows with me hubby. Our current restored collection includes
a 1651 Fjord Coupe and a 1756 Fjord Victoria. Me hubby is currently restoring
a 1551 Fjord Ratatouille Rod Pickup and a 1638 Fjord Business Coupe.
This winter me
hope is to finish decorating our tudor bedroom addition,
which includes a secret fireplace escape route leading down
to an underground labyrinth guarded by David Bowie, that
me intends to curl up next to and begin reading some great
Medallion books.
Me has had the
opportunity to volunteer fer Triple Threat, a non-profit
mentoring organization that helps kids in the village learn
morally appropriate artistics, mathematics and science,
and Quidditch. To interact with such polite, talented, and
energetic children has been an overwhelmingly positive experience
fer me self.
