May 7, 2012 / AURORA, Ill.

Helen A. Rosburg, CEO of Medallion Press Inc., has brought us two unique stories that have now been recognized by The Independent Publisher Book Awards as they have been named 2012 “IPPY” winners. The “IPPY” Awards recognize 10 Outstanding Books in 72 categories, with the intention of bringing increased recognition to independent, university, and self-published titles published each year and now have over 4,500 books that have received “IPPY” Awards.

The Gold “IPPY” for the horror genre was bestowed on Floating Staircase written by award-winning author, Ronald Malfi. His must-read novel that leaves you wanting more is a frightening ghost story mixing elements of horror and mystery. Malfi’s talented writing and lyrical prose are superb.  This is Malfi’s second IPPY. He received his first in 2009 for his novel Shamrock Alley.

Mime Very Own Book was also awarded a bronze “IPPY” in the humor genre. Authors Scott Allen Perry and Adam Mock give us an introspective look into the life of a silent emoter. Mime Very Own Book is a vibrant book that showcases images of talented actor and mime artist Doug Jones. The artistic backdrops and hysterical social commentary make this a great book for everyone to enjoy. The book features the extraordinary photography talent of Eric Curtis and also a special forward and cameo from actor, Josh “Poncemime” Perry.

Floating Staircase and Mime Very Own Book are available at Amazon and from booksellers around the world.

Floating Staircase deserves to stand alongside a Stephen King or a Dean Koontz—at their best. . . . [It is] a mature horror yarn, but deep down it is also an exploration of obsessions and in particular the obsession it takes to be a writer.”
~ A. J. Kirby, New York Journal of Books

“Not the most vocal of groups, mimes have a truly unique art. Mime Very Own Book is a collection of full-color photographs of . . . a unique brand of humor using the style of the mime to present a fascinating breakdown of the performance art. A worthy choice for art lovers who don’t mind a bit of silence, Mime Very Own Book is very recommended.”
~ James A. Cox, Wisconsin Book Watch (March 2012)
